The Grace

"The Grace."

I heard this saying today on the news. The context was that sometimes we have to give ourselves the grace to care for ourselves - to forgive ourselves, to allow ourselves time and space to take care of our own needs. It comes to mind looking back on the last few weeks here.

I'm working to catch up with blogs. It's been ridiculously crazy around here, but I made it. I got through the holidays, birthday parties, furnace breakdown, an oil spill, three voice specialists, a toilet clog, a call from the school nurse, a trip to the orthopedic surgeon, and an out of town show! Something had to give and thankfully, it was social media instead of me.

I had to focus on all those things in addition to healing myself. There was no room to spare because losing sleep was not an option. I made it though! We make it eventually. One of the tricky things is doing it without stressing. I'm trying to give myself the grace.

Hope you had a Blessed week.

Love,

T

What They Said

Why do we listen to everybody else when we know better? Who is "they" and when did they become so powerful?

I lost my voice. People have all kinds of ideas about what might help. "They" say you should... (insert advice here). I had a moment where I just closed my eyes and went internal. It helps to tune everyone else out. I know what I need to do (and my doctor appointment is coming up).

The idea of peer pressure and following others is all over the place. There are social media "influencers" and everyone wants "followers." We need to listen to ourselves.

Something's Gotta Give

Something has got to give, and it's not going to be me.

The race against time is real, so this is going to be brief.

I'm going to recharge with some nature breaks and keep on moving! Being busy means taking extra care to stay healthy, hydrated and balanced. We may have to let go of something on the "to do" list, because what can NOT go is our health and well being.

Love you all. Have a great and productive week! Stay healthy. Stay safe. xo

For You

I'm asking for a favor. Please take 5-10 minutes (the time it may have taken to read this blog) and do something for yourself. Just for you.

We made muffins.

Stay safe. Love you.

Knock. It. Off.

So... I was so tired I thought I might die. I actually told the people in the nearest vicinity that if I passed out, they should tell the paramedics that it's exhaustion.

That is enough of that. No more. The end.

It has been extremely challenging these last few weeks, with Russ gone (traveling). There's the baby, the dogs, our own traveling and on top of that the baby and I were both sick. Things were finally becoming manageable when I got a call for an acting gig. Cool! Then I had to stay up all night to be ready and to get there on time. I don't want to complain about that - I love these jobs! But sleep is important. It is necessary. When a lack of sleep becomes dangerous, NO JOB OR OPPORTUNITY is worth it.

Hello? Is this thing on?

I snapped at a friend of mine who was pushing himself too hard too. There's just no reason for it.

Can we all make it cool to get enough sleep again? Was it ever cool? Can we just not care about if it's cool or not? Any way you want to angle it - the point is that I am going to knock it off. I must. I think we all should.

Alright. That's it. Now everybody go to bed!

Here's wishing us all a week Blessed with a decent amount of sleep.

Namaste,
T

Nurturing the Self

This week was absolutely crazy hectic.  I don't know how it all fit into one week.

I pushed to the limit again with regard to lack of sleep.  I got very little sleep when I flew out of NYC to Buffalo and back, then stayed up all night (again) to go to Nile Rodgers' video shoot - all within a 70 hour window.

Here's the thing though... I recognized the end of the line and took a couple of days to recuperate.  I ate healthy and rested most of the day on Friday, and took it easy on Saturday too.  I needed to.

Louise Hay's calendar for Saturday (Valentine's Day) said this:

Louise Hay's calendar - Feb. 14, 2015

I took it to heart.  ;)

Nurturing myself became a real part of making it all possible and staying healthy.  I exercised, took rest when I needed it, did the things I really wanted to do, eliminated those tasks that could wait and didn't feel guilty about it.  I ate well, drank plenty of water and managed to do four workouts.  I smiled, laughed and enjoyed the beautiful company of good friends.  There's always much to be grateful for.

I Googled "nurture yourself" and found some nice articles on the subject:

I'll keep self-nurturing in mind this week.  I'll keep busy, take good care of myself and be grateful for everything I can think of.

I encourage everyone here to do something - anything - just for yourself.  There are so many suggestions in the links above.
