Arguing with Angels

Isn't it interesting how we don't trust the Universe to have our backs?

Why do we insist on having things our own way instead of going with the flow - knowing that our best interest is always at work? It's hard to imagine in tragic times. Why aren't things going according to our plan? THIS is God's plan??? When we see the horrors that abound, why would we trust?

Maybe sometimes our circumstance is the result of our own free will. That makes sense. Sometimes we have to accept things we might not like as what is best for us though. So how can we tell the difference?

When we pray, or meditate, or make a wish for some specific circumstance - how do we know if that particular request is what's best? We could just wish for whatever is best, but then we REALLY have to trust that what ever happens is somehow, ultimately what's right. Can we?

I've been there before. I remember before Zachary was born. I wasn't sure if he would ever show up and had to, after several unsuccessful fertility assists, surrender my fate to God. Then all of a sudden, there was baby Zachary.

These trying times hardly seem like an appropriate time to surrender. We have battles to fight, injustices to fix, solutions to find... this is no time to coast. Where's the line? When do we fight like hell and when do we accept and trust?

We probably have to determine that for ourselves. There may be no right or wrong answer. I've heard that the time to walk away from a situation is when your health is being affected negatively.

I suppose at the end of the day, it is ourselves who are responsible for our circumstance. We can't control everything, but we are in charge of our own choices. We have to live with the decisions we make and the consequences they bring.

Today I was deep in thought and made a wish. Actually, I made a command. It felt like an Angel answered me back, "Are you sure about that?" I could qualify my wishes: "only if it's best' or "thy will be done" but sometimes I just want what I want. Maybe it's not best. Maybe my own limited perspective is preventing me from seeing a greater plan. Maybe I am getting in my own way. Then again, maybe I am finally going for it with gusto! The benefit of hindsight is always late! LOL.

Here's wishing us all good choices this week. Arguing with the Divine might not be the best idea. We might just do all we can do - and then trust.

Changing Leaves

It all started with "suppression." I was thinking of how we suppress ourselves.

We do it. Yes we do (arguing with myself). We are all capable of infinite improvement, yet we hang on to our old ideas like our life depends on them. Why don't we just let go?

Leaves fall away and brand new growth emerges. That could be us. We don't need to keep doing things the same old way. We don't need to keep the same habits. We are fully capable of change for the good of our own selves.

"Progress is impossible without change,

and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything."

- George Bernard Shaw

Uncertainty forces us to either fear, or trust. Let's trust. Let's believe.

Here's wishing you all a safe and healthy holiday season, regardless of how different it is this year.

Love,

T

#WishMeLuck

Well THIS happened... SMH

And Zachary's music class was NOT cancelled - as opposed to the last time snow was expected but no snow came and everything was closed down anyway. I still have not recuperated from Easter. In fact, Zach and I are both sick. It was "just a little stuffy" but now I'm calling it "sick" - sick and tired. The snow came one day before our scheduled road trip, so we were forced to adjust our plans.

Time keeps marching right on regardless, so throughout the chaos I've been deep in thought over a "paragraph" I have to write. It will serve as my letter of introduction/intent for something very important to me. It has caused me to review the whole of my life and career to pick out some shining example that clearly demonstrates who I Am and why the letter's recipient should work with me. It's a daunting task (I'm NOT going to say "impossible").

How can you describe a lifetime's worth of hopes and dreams, accomplishments and aspirations in a "paragraph"??? I can only give it my best shot. I can not predict what one thing to say that will make others want to believe in me. I have no idea what magic phrase to include. I'll do my homework and speak with honesty and integrity. That's all I have to go on here.

Faith is going to have to take over. That is to say that I am exactly where I am supposed to be and I will get to exactly where I am supposed to go. I'll try my best, then trust. That's it. That's all I got.

Wish me luck! Wishing you all the best in all you do this week too...

(I was going to end the blog here.)

Funny. Things seemed to be out of place all week. Just now, I thought I had a serious problem and that I wouldn't be able to post on time because my charger refused to plug in. It turned out to be a tiny little screw stuck to the magnetic power connector, which was blocking the charger from plugging in completely. I found other things in odd places too...

Yep. I guess that's it. Trust that even when things seem out of place and off schedule, they are really just exactly as they should be. We are right where we belong. (Smile. I love when the Universe tells me stuff.)

A lovely week to us all... xoxo

Faith Steps In...

The whole family is sleeping. I don't have long... I am living in a Calgon commercial and just want to know when the relaxing bath part is going to come. I've been racing around trying to do everything and started this blog with the working title "No Idea."

These two...

The little one is teething. The big one is recovering from hernia surgery. Teething: we are getting through it. Surgery: Russ is doing well and on the mend.

Then there's THESE two...

Both want to go outside and act hungry despite the fact that they just ate and went out.

Also this week was a house window replacement. (Baby crying, dogs barking, table saws tripping electrical circuits, guy knocking at front door wanting me to come out and take a look, meatballs in the oven, sauce and chicken on the stove, out of baby ointment but don't realize it yet...)

The old window was in rough shape. It was broken and stuck in an open position. The previous occupants had caulked panes of glass up around it to keep cold air out - making it impossible to even access the window itself. There it sat, hidden by a curtain and effectively boarded up and forgotten about.

That was enough of that. Guys had to come with suction devices to remove the glass panes without breaking them and a bright, shiny new window came into place. You can see out! It opens, closes and functions to keep cold air out all on its own! It's brand new and sturdy and clean. I also had California Closets come and design some organizational space. I am reclaiming parts of the house - and my life - piece by piece. Maybe sometime soon I can actually wear two of the same color socks and remember to grab my wallet BEFORE I get into the checkout line at CVS! #momlife

I struggled to tie everything together and get this blog written until an illuminating conversation with a friend. (WHEN DID I HAVE TIME FOR AN ILLUMINATING CONVERSATION????) We spoke briefly about faith. When you've done all you can do, you have to just trust that all is as it should be.

Things get crazy. This is life - as it is meant to be. Enjoy the ride. It's kind of like the new window. We get all clouded up and stuck. We seal ourselves off from all the endless possibilities trying to do things our own way instead of just trusting that the Universe (or God, or Divine Order) has it all under control. After you've done all you can do, there's nothing left to do but trust.

A little Faith... that must be the bath part.

#Trust

I LOVE when this kind of thing happens! (Forgot to tell you this last week.)

I was in Brooklyn looking for a parking spot. The only available space was partially blocked by a wooden pallet, so I got out of the car to move it. I noticed this immediately as I bent toward the ground...

I smiled as I thought of previous blogs about finding money and, and others about finding feathers. It looked to me as if an Angel was giving me a dollar! I moved the crate and turned to get back in the car and saw this...

CORRECTION! An Angel was giving me TWO dollars! I picked them both up and went to my appointment, wondering why the money had been placed in my path that day.

It wasn't until several hours later that I realized I had forgotten my wallet at home. I could not have shown my license if I had gotten pulled over, or paid to park my car anywhere that day. I COULD have gone through a drive-through if I got hungry though.

When I offered to pay back my friend for the coffee she bought me, I had no idea that the only money I had on me was that couple of bucks that I had found outside. When I finally did realize my wallet was missing, I smiled again at how the Universe had my back the whole time! I had those two dollars in case of an emergency. I would be able to buy food or water if I needed to.

I am going to remember that this week - that things are being lined up for me and arranged beyond what I can see or understand. The Universe has my back, and in THAT I can trust. Everything is going to be okay. We have a way of finding exactly what we need before we even know we need it. It's already done. Our future has already been planned for.

#Trust - It's all taken care of. No worries.

Namaste,
T

P.S.
Monday's moon... Doesn't it look as if someone lassoed it and pulled it closer to the ground - like in "Bruce Almighty?" :)

Eight Tries...

Last week was filled with the practical tasks of learning Photoshop, studio recording, song writing, packing, traveling, scheduling and booking.  All the while, the haunts of last week’s “Fear Factor” blog lingered.  I realized (as if I didn’t already know) how fear can permeate every aspect of life, and TRUST becomes a critical aspect of moving forward.

Just as I had to jump out of a tree last week and trust that a cable would catch me, this week I had to trust that things would fall into place, that I would manage to get everything done, that my ideas would be good enough for the second verse of the new song, that my advice would be useful to a friend, that I would make it driving through that torrential downpour that lasted four and a half hours last night, that Russ would get to and back from Paris safely, that I would finally figure out how to get the text right in Photoshop if I tried just one more time, and countless other instances.

To be without trust is to be without confidence.  To live without trust is to live with worry and fear, and THAT can be paralyzing.

In relationships, lack of trust can be devastating - and what about trusting your instinct or your ability to make it on your own, if you know the relationship isn't right?

This week I say, “Go for it!”  Jump out of the tree, try something new, take that chance.  What’s the worst that can happen?  We fall?  We fail?  So what?

“Fall seven times, stand up eight” – Japanese proverb

“In order to succeed, your desire for success should be greater than your fear of failure.”
– Bill Cosby

WE CAN DO THIS!  LET’S GO!  JUST GO!  (This will be my mantra this week.)

“I ask myself: are defeats necessary?
Well, necessary or not, they happen.  When we first begin fighting for our dream, we have no experience and make many mistakes.  The secret of life, though, is to fall seven times and to get up eight times.
So, why is it so important to live our personal calling if we are only going to suffer more than other people?
Because, once we have overcome the defeats – and we always do – we are filled by a greater sense of euphoria and confidence.  In the silence of our hearts, we know that we are proving ourselves worthy of the miracle of life.  Each day, each hour, is part of the good fight.  We start to live with enthusiasm and pleasure.  Intense, unexpected suffering passes more quickly than suffering that is apparently bearable; the latter goes on for years and, without our noticing, eats away at our soul, until, one day, we are no longer able to free ourselves from the bitterness and it stays with us for the rest of our lives.” - Paulo Coelho, “The Alchemist”

Here’s bidding you all a week of eight tries, and the joy of eventual triumph...

Namaste!
