Next Chapter

Last week began in sunny California.

Did I drive this truck and trailer with a storage box down twenty miles of highway, then load a storage unit full of stuff onto it ALL BY MYSELF, then drive it another twenty miles before getting on a plane back across the country because I am a MOM and therefore I can do anything???

Yes. Yes I did.

It felt like I was closing out a chapter in my life. The days of being bi-coastal have been over for a few years now. It was about time to close the book on that storage unit. Change is good. Why do we always seem to hang on longer than necessary?

Then suddenly I was back in NY,

and in a snowstorm so bad it took me an hour and a half to get somewhere it usually only takes me ten minutes to get to. It took Russ six and a half hours to drive 46 miles to his gig that night. (SMH) The only real problem with driving in the snow is that NOT EVERYONE OUT THERE ON THE ROAD IS FROM BUFFALO! (#Buffalove.) It wasn't exactly a day at the beach...

But all in all, it was not that bad.

The week circled back around to my favorite thing - recording new songs for my next album!

Here's wishing everyone a very happy Thanksgiving and a beautiful change of season!

Into the Sun

I literally flew toward the sun.

Then traveled via car toward it.

I was moving toward something that I love...

and surrounded by good people.

Later in the week, I was talking to a friend about focusing on the positive aspects of what they were moving toward. (Smile.) I think I'll take my own advice and keep going toward the sun and all things happy.

A heartfelt wave of gratitude for my gig with The Original Stone City Band this weekend! It's an honor and a pleasure to be working with such talented and truly wonderful people. Love all you guys - and all you ladies working hard backstage too!

Here's to that moment when you're about to give it your all...

Working Angel

Halloween was a riot!

I was really getting weary and worn out this week though. FOR THE RECORD: I still looked like THIS while blogging.

Not at ALL like this:

Again - to be clear, THIS is what I look like blogging:

NOT this:

Sometimes I have a little help and things get easier - like when someone offers to vacuum...

or cook me dinner.

Sometimes I ask for a sign.

One pretty cool thing that happened this week was that my Angel started working again.

I thought it had stopped. I went so far as to get new batteries, but I hadn't put them in yet when I noticed it running. Maybe it never really stopped. Perhaps I just couldn't see it for a while. Maybe it was always just trying to get through to me. ;)
